Do these luxury beds offer the best sleep at sea?

When you spend enough time on a cruise, the bed you’re given can make the difference to your holiday. You often see on forums that people have stayed in a certain hotel and wonder where they can get their hands on the hotel’s mattresses. Well, the same thing happens when it comes to cruise lines too. There’s no denying it, some cruise lines have amazingly comfortable beds, and for good reason too. Let’s face it, if you’re on a cruise for 14 nights where seas can get choppy at times, you at least want the best chance of a good night’s sleep.

When customers come back from a cruise on a Princess ship, they often comment on how comfortable their beds were. The cruise line didn’t get this reputation by accident, no – a lot of work has gone into creating “the ultimate night of sleep at sea”.

Princess Cruise Line Luxury BedsDid you know that they were developed exclusively for Princess by the manufacturer of some of the most comfortable hotel beds in the world? The cruise line partnered with Dr. Michael Beaus (also known as “The Sleep Doctor), along with Candice Olson – a design expert. The idea was for Michael to look at the surroundings, the bedding and the science behind the whole sleep experience. Having Candice focus on the design side of things made it possible to guarantee a great night’s sleep for their guests.

Dr. Beaus has worked on trying to enhance the overall experience by taking into account what happens to each of the 5 senses while you sleep on a cruise. He then looks figuring out how this can be improved. If you are lucky enough to have a snoring partner, Princess provide guests with sleep meditation audio. This, along with the (mostly) gentle rocking of the boat and the smell of lavender on your bed, is bound to help you get some shut-eye.

Regular cruisers of Princess will be pleased to know that they are planning on rolling out over 44,000 luxury beds to every stateroom across their fleet in 2018. If you can’t wait until then, the beds are available on their store, which will set you back around £1,675 for their “Eastern King” sized bed and mattress.
