Thought you knew what cruise holidays are all about? Prepare to think again!

Many of the cruise myths and misconceptions out there are deterring people from experiencing a holiday of a life time. In reality, cruises are very exciting and are packed with activities. Here is a list of the most common cruise myths preventing people from embarking on a cruise:

I will get seasick

Seasickness is one of the biggest fears among potential travelers and is also one of the biggest misconceptions. Cruise ships are so large, you will not feel the waves of the ocean. ost of the time, you won’t even realise you’re moving. If you do suffer from seasickness, book a cabin in the centre of the ship. This is where the sway of the ship is the least.

Cruises aren’t fun

This is certainly not true. Cruise lines pack the trip with activities and leisure facilities for you to use during your holiday. It is generally up to you whether you keep active on your cruise or just relax. If you do get bored of the pool, gym, and spa, there will be many excursion, activities, eateries, pubs, clubs and live entertainment for you to enjoy.

Cruises are for old people

Cruise holidays are generally marketed towards multi-generational families, meaning there will be a wide ranges of ages on board the ship. Even if your ship is filled with elderly people, there will still be plenty of activities for people of your age range.

Cruises are dangerous

For some reason unbeknown to many other than potential travellers, people believe cruises are dangerous. In actual fact, cruises are very safe. Disasters involving cruise ships are few and far between. In simple terms, there are far more fatalities due to car crashes than cruise disasters.

Cruises feel trapped

Depending on the size of the cruise ship, it is more than likely that you will not feel trapped. Large cruise ships are like floating cities and many call at a port every day. In addition, due to the amount of activities for you to take part in, it won’t be long before you forget the trapped claustrophobic feeling as there are many things to take your mind off it whilst at sea.

Cruises are too crowded

Although 3000 passengers may sound like a lot of people to be packed onto a ship, it is certainly not. Large cruise ships incorporate many different levels and very spacious areas. No matter how many people are onboard, you will always be able to find a space to relax and soak up the sun. If you are still worried about the se misconception, be sure to pick a cruise line that suits your style. You will be sure to have the holiday of a life time.
